Hilary Lyons named PSAC Champion Scholar
QUAKERTOWN, Pa. — Shippensburg University softball’s Hilary Lyons, a former softball standout at Allegany High School, was named the PSAC Champion Scholar award recipient for the 2013 PSAC Softball Championships on Wednesday afternoon.
Lyons, a junior, is a repeat winner of the award and remains the only Raider in any sport to receive the honor. She is an accounting major with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average through 76 completed credits.
In her third season, Lyons has been a regular starter in left field. In 38 games (35 starts), she has posted a .282 batting average along with 10 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and 18 runs scored. She has committed only one fielding error.
The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards, which are in their second year of existence, are modeled after the NCAA’s Elite 89 award and honors the student-athlete with the top grade-point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC’s 23 team championship finals.
