Fatula helps Hobo’s beat Twigg’s, 9-5

POTOMAC PARK  — Chad Fatula fanned eight and delivered a single and a run scored during a 9-5 win for Hobo’s Restaurant against Twigg’s Plumbing and Heating Monday at Memorial Field.

Tanner Fichtner hit a triple and a single with three runs scored, while Matt Lewis and Ryan Mallory each added a double and a run. Brian Dawson added two more singles, and Shane McCoy finished with a single and a run.

Twigg’s was led by Noah Webber with a double and a single, and Zach Ruppenkamp with a pair of singles.

Hobo’s (3-0-1) plays Thomas Chevrolet on Wednesday in Hyndman. Twigg’s plays Frostburg 1st United Wednesday in Frostburg.

Cumberland Optimist    5

Keyser Moose    0


POTOMAC PARK — Micka Ludwig struck out 16 while no-hitting the Keyser Moose in a victory for the Cumberland Optimist Monday evening at the Hot Stove Complex’s Hamilton Field.

Ludwig allowed five walks.

Keyser’s Jake Poland held the Optimist to only five hits while striking out seven with four walks.

The Optimist (2-2) took a 1-0 lead in the third, then increased it with two two-run innings in the fourth and fifth innings. Their next game is Wednesday at Grantsville. Keyser (0-4) hosts Ridgeley VFW on Wednesday at John Kruk Field.

Grantsville 9, Greg’s Auto 6

POTOMAC PARK  — Bradley McKenzie got out of a bases load jam in the seventh to preserve Grantsville’s three-run win over Greg’s Auto Monday evening at the Hot Stove Complex at the Allegany County Fairgrounds.

Greg’s scored two runs in the sixth to trim the lead to 9-4 and then two more in the seventh before McKenzie got the final batter to ground back to him with the bases loaded.

McKenzie also had a double and a run batted in during the win, with Diori Pattison finishing with a double and two singles.

E. Tressler had Greg’s only extra-base hit by supplying a double.

Grantsville (2-2) plays Wednesday at home against the Optimist.

Greg’s plays Friday at the Frostburg Legion.

POTOMAC PARK — Logan Milburn picked up 10 strikeouts and had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning to lead KMK Insurance over the Cumberland Lions.

Milburn added a double and a single to his performance on the mound, while Mike Szymanski pitched in with two more singles. Outdoor Power had eight hits overall.

Cole Miltenberger had the Lions’ only hit.

KMK (2-0) plays Bill Miller Equipment tonight at Holler Field. The Lions play Madigan’s Auto today at Hamilton Field.

Rotary 9, Salisbury 4

POTOMAC PARK — Rotary used a four-run first inning to build a cushy lead, and Salisbury was never able to catch up Saturday at Holler Field as Rotary collected a five-run win for its first victory.

Austin Farrell, Garrett Kesner and Cadon Winn all had two singles for Rotary, which had 10 for the day.

Salisbury, which had a total of five hits, got two singles from Mazer Ross and two from Zach Hotchkiss.

Rotary (1-1-1) will play Wednesday at Bel Air against D&D Homes. Salisbury (0-1) plays tonight at Memorial Field against the Fort Ashby Lions.

Bedford Thomas    5

Frostburg 1st United    4


POTOMAC PARK  — Miller hit three singles in three at bats, accounting for almost half of his team’s seven hits to help Bedford Thomas edge Frostburg 1st United Saturday at Hamilton Field.

Bedford scored twice in the first inning and added two more runs in the third before scoring their final run in the fifth. Frostburg scored one run in the second, one more in the sixth and then the final two in the top of the seventh.

Thomas Chevrolet plays at Hobo’s on Wednesday.
