— ACCIDENT — Tiago Silva and Tim Carpenter hooked up for the only goal of the afternoon with 30:24 left in the second half as No. 2 Allegany edged No. 5 Northern in high school boys soccer Saturday at Northern High School.

The two teams played to goose eggs over the first half, and defenses were in control for most of the second half as well. Silva netted the only goal on an assist from Carpenter a tad under 10 minutes into the second half. From there, Nate Condor and the Allegany defense kept the lead intact. Condor had three saves as Northern was able to attempt five total shots.

The Huskies’ goalie, Alex Durst, had six saves on nine total shots from the Campers.

“It was a very evenly played match,” said Northern’s coach Lynn Lais. “We took it to them a little in the first half, but they gave it right back in the second. It was a fun, hard-played but clean game. Allegany has a really nice team.”

The Campers won the jayvee game 2-0 with Bryce Sainz assisting Cooper Willetts and Theron Black.

Allegany (10-1) has shut out its last three opponents and will play at Keyser on Thursday.

Northern (5-5-1) hosts Mountain Ridge on Tuesday.
