Fort Hill defeats BW, 5-1

Parker, Heavner score two goals; Hampshire edges Frankfort

— CUMBERLAND — Austin Parker and Austin Heavner scored two goals and Killian Carroll tacked on a penalty kick as Fort Hill opened its season with a 5-1 win over Bishop Walsh in high school boys soccer Tuesday afternoon.

The Sentinels scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half and had two in the final 10 minutes of the second to win the City League opener.

After 30 minutes of scoreless play, Parker got the Sentinels on the board on an assist from Shakur Brady with 9:30 left in the first half. Heavener scored on a feed from Parker five minutes later and Fort Hill led 2-0 at the half.

Heavner opened the second-half scoring with an unassisted goal with 28:25 on the clock. Haven Mackie got BW on the board by converting a penalty kick at 23:42.

It remained a 3-1 game until Parker scored unassisted at 8:18. Carroll got the final goal on a penalty kick with 3:31 to go.

Fort Hill led in shots 10-5 and in corner kicks 4-3. Dalton Gaus made three saves in goal for the Sentinels and Austin Crotts had four for BW.

Both teams play again Thursday. Fort Hill makes its home debut against Hampshire, at 4 p.m., and Bishop Walsh (5-1) hosts Pendleton County at 5:30.

Fort Hill beat Bishop Walsh in the jayvee game 3-0 on goals by Josh James, Connor Stepp and Nathan Kidd.

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Zach Davis scored the go-ahead goal with six minutes to play to lift Hampshire past Frankfort and to its fourth win in six games.

Tied 2-2, Davis scored on an assist from Jacob Harrison in the 74th minute. It came after Frankfort’s Nikki Tagayuna had tied it with an unassisted goal nine minutes earlier.

Brady Brinsfield put Frankfort ahead with an unassisted goal 17 minutes into the match. Ryan Mowrey scored twice, unassisted, in a 12-minute span later in the half to give Hampshire a 2-1 halftime cushion.

Hampshire led in shots 14-12 and both teams had six corner kicks. Hampshire goalie Robert Judy and Frankfort keeer Stafford Cessna had four saves each.

Hampshire plays at Fort Hill on Thursday at 4 p.m. Frankfort will host Petersburg on Saturday at 1 o’clock.

Cumberland Valley    1


MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Zack Nelson, Josh Snyder and Conor Wilson had a goal and an assist to lead Calvary past Cumberland Valley.

Nelson assisted Josh Snyder on the only goal of the first half and the two flipped spots to score the first goal of the second half.

Cumberland Valley cut the lead to 2-1 before Wilson was assisted by Tyler Heavner to stretch the lead to 3-1. Wilson assisted Caleb Snyder with three minutes left for the fourth and final goal.

Matt Dillow made five saves on seven total CV shots, and Tyler Ribey had two saves in the loss.

Calvary held a small, 3-1, advantage in corner kicks.

The Eagles (2-1) will play Allegany on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. at Greenway Avenue Stadium.

Mountain Ridge    5

OAKLAND — Patrick Kimble recorded a hat trick for Mountain Ridge in a 5-2 win at Southern Monday.

Kimble scored unassisted, 14:00 in. He then assisted James Kirk with 8:00 left in the first half to make it 2-0 going into the locker room.

Kimble’s second goal was unassisted, 5:00 into the second half to make it 3-0. He scored again on an assist by Jacob Brode six minutes later to extend the Miners lead. The Rams broke the shutout on an own goal at 22:00. Adam Homberg knocked in an unassisted goal for Southern with 9:00 remaining to make it 4-2. Adam Whetzel put in the final goal on a pass from JB Darr at 8:00.

Austin Graham stopped 12 shots in goal for the Rams on 19 Mountain Ridge attempts.

Allan Green had two saves and Tanner Harold stopped one for the Miners.

Allan Green scored two goals to lead the Miners jayvee squad to a 6-0 win.

Mountain Ridge (3-0) plays at Fort Hill Saturday at 7p.m. and Southern (0-2) goes to Northern Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Northern Bedford    5

Hope for Hyndman     2


HYNDMAN, Pa. — Northern Bedford had five different scorers, all unassisted, in a  win at Hope for Hyndman Monday.

Colton Eversole made it 1-0 for Northern Bedford ten minutes in. Colin Sherlock added to the lead at 25:43. Trey Childers made it 3-0 going into halftime with a goal at 17:18.

Josh Hiquet put Hyndman on the board at 28:47 in the second half with an unassisted score. Ethan Eckenroad made it a 3-goal game again three minutes later. Jonas Bequeath capped off Northern Bedford’s scoring at 21:09. Trenten Shoemaker scored Hyndman’s second goal with 1:19 remaining.

Brian Raab saved six shots for Northern Bedford while Jake Bennett stopped five for the Hornets.

Hope for Hyndman (1-4) play at Chestnut Ridge Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

North Star    6

Salisbury    0


BOSWELL, Pa. — Preston Miller scored three first-half goals and added another in the second to power North Star past visiting Salisbury.

Jacob Scrimmager and Riley Hemminger also scored for North Star, which held a 30-3 edge in shots and an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Hunter Wright made 13 saves in goal for Salisbury.

The Elks (0-2) play at Conemaugh Township on Wednesday.
