HAGERSTOWN — Four Hagerstown Hawks finished with double-digit points during an 81-41 win over visiting Allegany College of Maryland Wednesday night in Maryland JUCO basketball.
Mesha Adams went for 15 points as Hagerstown’s leading scorer, and Kristen Mstewski added 12. Sasha Orr scored 10 points before fouling out, and Tiffany Wallace scored 10 as well. Hagerstown also got a nine-point game from Gabbie Comfort.
The Hawks played their way to a 49-16 lead at halftime before outscoring the Trojans 32-25 in the second half.
“We played a much better second half, but came out soft in the first and Hagerstown took major advantage of it,” said ACM head coach Bethany Sindy. “They executed and shot very well, but we did not play very sound defense. We didn’t play our style of basketball early on and didn’t play fundamentally sound. We can execute better than we did.”
Monique Rhodes led the Trojans with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Both of those were team-highs. Paris Duncan scored eight points and grabbed seven boards and Dirica Souder added eight points.
Allegany slips to 0-8 and is 0-3 in MDJUCO. It plays Monday at Anne Arundel at 5 p.m.
