Butler leads Garrett

MCHENRY — Antonio Butler scored 21 points for Garrett as the Lakers scored 60 points in the first half of a 108-85 win over Penn-Highlands Wednesday at Garrett College.

The Lakers are now 6-6 and enter their winter break. They play Jan. 5 when they host Anne Arundel at 5 p.m.

Butler finished as one of five players to score in double figures for Garrett. Guila Panzo added 16 points, Northern graduate Mat Gibson added 12 and Marquise Green scored 11. Walter Griffin was the fifth player by scoring 10 points.

Green led the team with nine rebounds, while Gibson added five assists.

The Lakers blew up in the first half to take a 60-25 lead into halftime. Penn-Highlands scored 60 points during the second half, but Garrett managed 48 of its own to stay well out in front.

Highlands got a game-high 23 points from Rashaad Kelly. Jordan Swauger scored 20, Larry Rascoe added 16 and Josh Corbett had 11.

“It was the last game before break for both teams,” said Garrett coach Dennis Gibson. “Both teams played defense like they were ready for the break to come.”
