CRESAPTOWN — Savannah Reed scored 22 points and Karly Hipsley scored 21 for Calvary during the Eagles’ 57-40 win over Johnstown Christian Friday in Cresaptown.
Besides accounting for all but 14 points of Calvary’s scoring output, Reed and Hipsley both finished with double doubles. Reed added 10 rebounds with Hipsley adding 10 rebounds and four steals. Kerenne Shaffer put forward a strong defensive showing with nine boards and three blocks.
“It was probably our best offensive game all year, and we made the stops when we had to on defense,” said Calvary coach Rusty Kitzmiller. “I was worried how we might respond after playing a tough game against Allegany, but the girls came out ready and played hard. This is the type of win we hope springboards us into two tough conference games next week.”
Samantha Haines led Johnstown with nine points. Maddie Sprangle scored eight despite being the focus of a box-and-1 by the Eagles.
Calvary (7-4) plays Faith at home, 5:30 p.m., on Tuesday.
