ACCIDENT — Kirsten Rayner scored 26 points for Northern during the Huskies 64-27 win over visiting Bishop Walsh Monday in an Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference contest in Garrett County.
Rayner did all of her scoring inside the three-point arch. She hit nine field goals and made 8 of 11 free throws to place herself at 26. Allison Yommer added 11 points on three field goals and 4-for-5 shooting at the foul line. Ashley Murphy added eight points.
The Huskies doubled up the Spartans in the first quarter, leading 12-6 at its end. They scored at almost the same ratio in the second quarter as Northern expanded the lead to 28-15. The Huskies led 48-20 after three quarters.
Sarah Holtschneider scored 14 points during Northern’s 46-21 jayvee win. Maggie Mathews scored eight for BW.
Northern (3-11, 3-10 AMAC) travels to Southern on Wednesday. Bishop Walsh (1-18, 0-9) plays at St. James on Wednesday.
