Marion T. Gordon [Cumberland]
CUMBERLAND - Marion Tennessee Ann (Carns) Gordon, 83, of Frostburg, went to be with the Lord and her loving husband on May 3, 2008, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born July 28, 1924, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Carl Thomas and Grace Mary (Rowe) Carns. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter J. Gordon and her sister, Betty Lee Carns.
Mrs. Gordon was Methodist by faith. She was a nursing assistant at the WMHS-Memorial Campus, 2 South, for 23 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Grace Ann (Gordon) VanMeter and husband Jim, of Cumberland, and Susan Gordon Wharton and husband Vernon, of Frostburg; one brother, Don C. Carns and wife JoAnn, of Cumberland; four grandchildren, Dawn L. (VanMeter) Leasure and husband Rob, of Cumberland, Kelly A. (VanMeter) Kidwell and husband Darren, of Short Gap, W.Va., David L. Mills and wife Julie, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mandy S. (Wharton) Galica and husband Joe, of Avilton; eight great-grandchildren, Heather Leasure, of Baltimore, Ra-chel Leasure and friend Travis, of Cumberland, Kevin Kidwell, of Short Gap, Daniel Leasure, of Cumberland, Emily Mills, of Jacksonville, Alexis Galica, of Avilton, David Mills Jr., of Jacksonville, and great-granddaughter, Sarah A. Kidwell, of Short Gap.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland (scarpellifh.com), on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
At Mrs. Gordon's request, her body will be cremated.
There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Prosperity United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Maryland State Veterans' Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Rosenbaum House at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
