Robert Abraham Gross [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Robert Abraham Gross, 83, of Cumberland, died on Thursday, June 26, 2009, at INOVA Landsdowne Hospital in Loudon County, Va.

Born Oct. 12, 1925, in Cumberland, he was the devoted son of the late Solomon Gross and Leota (Himmler) Gross. He was preceded in death by two sisters, his adored Miss Jeanette Gross and Tina Gross Gnagey; and one brother, Walter M. Gross.

Mr. Gross was a retired owner/partner of Gross Brothers Plumbing and Heating on the corner of Henderson Avenue and Knox Street in Cumberland. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his beloved great niece, Kristine Shanley and husband Gerard, of Leesburg, Va.; and their children, Brendan, Jack, Andrew and Allison; great nephew, Kevin Gnagey and wife Kathryn, of Baltimore and their children, Anna and Sarah; and a great niece, Stacie Smentkowski. Also surviving Mr. Gross is a niece, Diane Viney, of North Carolina.

Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland,AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com on Monday, June 29, 2009, from noon to 1 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, June 29, 2009, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Stephen Yelovich officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
