Ernest L. Hansford Sr. [Cumberland}

CUMBERLAND — Ernest L. Hansford Sr., 57, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, surrounded by his family, at his daughter’s residence, where he resided for eight years.

Born Aug. 9, 1951, in Ridgeley, W.Va., he was the son of the late George H. Hansford and Lalla R. (Sciese) Hansford. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Ann Bryant and Alice Faye Landis; and three brothers, Kenneth Hansford, Mike Hansford and Jimbo Hansford.

Surviving are one son, Ernest L. Hansford Jr. and wife Kirsten, of Bel Air; two daughters, Karen Hare and husband Jeff, of Cumberland and Darlene Dolly and husband Robbie, of Cumberland; ten sisters, Ilene Smith, of Delaware, Maggie Robinette, of Cumberland, Margie Ferguson, of Georgia, Becky Bowman, of Cumberland, Mary Jane Bake, of Pennsylvania, Rita McKenzie, of Pennsylvania, Dorothy Stonebreaker, of Cumberland, Linda Wilson, of Cumberland, Etta Rice, of Cumberland and Cathy Barger, of Cumberland; three brothers, Clyde A. Hansford, of Cumberland, Randy H. Hansford, of Cumberland and William Hansford, of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Tyler Murphy, Justin Dolly, Tyler Dolly and Jordyn Hansford; special niece, Brandi Barger; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special buddies, his dogs, Jake and Brownie. He is also survived by his ex-wife and friend, Linda Socha, of Fairmont, W.Va.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifuneralhomes.com) on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Dietz officiating.

At his request, his body will be cremated.
