Marguerite L. Myers [Middletown]
Marguerite L. Myers, 88, of Clayton Manor Drive, Middletown, formerly of Aurora, W.Va., died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Newark Manor Nursing Home, Newark, Del.
Born on March 6, 1920 in Rowlesburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Effie G. (Rosier) Bishop. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer S. Myers in 2003; a son, Robert L. Myers in 2006; a brother, John K. Bishop in 1952 and his wife Rudell (Calhoun) Bishop in 1995; two sisters, Katherine I. Campbell in 1993 and her husband Daniel O. Campbell in 1982 and Bernadine V. Poling in 1998 and her husband Lloyd C. Poling in 2000; two grandsons, Timothy A. Teets in 1984 and Charles S. Myers in 2005; and by one daughter-in-law, Judith A. (Hardesty) Myers in 2006.
She was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and was a former member of the United Women’s group. She attended the Rowlesburg School and moved to Baltimore, then to Cumberland and back to Aurora when her father-in-law died in 1951. She helped her husband run a used-car lot and farmed the Meyers family farm.
On May 26, 1938 at Oakland, Md., she married Homer S. Myers who was the son of the late Harold S. and Margaret E. (Becker) Myers.
She is survived by one son, James R. Myers and wife Carola E. (Porras) Myers, Brownsville, Texas, James was formerly married to Virginia J. Pyle; one daughter, Mary K. Teets and husband Alan R., Middletown; one daughter-in-law, Patience (Ryan) (Piersol) Myers, Seabrook, Texas; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, 32 S. Second St., Oakland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Aurora United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 17, 2008 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Foy officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery.
