Ellen V. Morris [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND - Ellen Virginia Morris, 79, of Frederick Street, Cumberland, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Allegany County Nursing Home, Cumberland.

Born Aug. 5, 1928 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd E. Newman and Mary A. (Neff) Newman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen N. Morris, May 26, 1995.

She was a 1946 Allegany High School graduate. She was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church. She retired from PPG Industries, Cumberland in 1984 after working as a secretary 25 years. She was a member of the RE Temple 118, Daughters of the Nile and the Sheiks and Sheilas of Ali Ghan Shriners. She was the past Noble Grand of Colifax Rebekah Lodge 1, IOOF and past President of the Algonquin Chapter Professional Secretary International.

She is survived by her special friends, George and Virginia Smith, Mike, Janis, Andrea and Ian Loy, Tom and Lillian Jacobs, Lt. Jared T. Jacobs and special caring friend, Barb Mace.

Friends will be received at St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Cumberland, on Monday, May 12, 2008 from noon to 2 p.m.

A funeral service will follow at St. Lukes Lutheran Church, on May 12, 2008 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Yelovich officiating.

Interment will be held at Rocky Gap State Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone.
