William Davis [Oldtown]

OLDTOWN — William Davis, 85, of Oldtown, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at Braddock Hospital.
Born Aug. 27, 1924, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John M. Sr. and Bertha Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Iris Davis; and son, John M. Davis.
Mr. Davis was a member of Oldtown Baptist Fellowship Church. He worked on the Orchard for a long time. He also was a truck and school bus driver for 47 years. William will always be remembered for his hugs and was a friend to all that knew him. He enjoyed traveling and taking road trips; he also enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He also enjoyed going to his great-granddaughters’ karate tournaments.
Surviving are his daughter, Vivian Ravenscroft and husband Ronald, Oldtown; four grandchildren, Melissa Pfitz-enmayer, Oldtown, John Davis Jr., Martinsburg, W.Va., Tina and Rodney Ravenscroft, both of Oldtown; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Davis, Angela Ravenscroft, Tessa Davis, Danielle Pfitzenmayer, Leagha Pfitzenmayer and Steven Davis; sisters-in-law, Fay Duckworth and husband Raymond, Oldtown, Jan Hersh and husband Robert, Temple Hills; and one great-great-grandchild, Paetyn Davis.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifuneralhomes.com) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joseph DiNicola and Pastor George Hopkins officiating.
Interment will be in Oldtown Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Bill Webb, Larry Kennell, Leroy Robertson, Stan Caton, Rodger Long and Jim Gensler.
