LAVALE - Viola Virginia Broadwater, 88, went to be with the Lord and reunited with her husband, Howard Wilson Broadwater, on Friday, May 2, at the Palm Gardens Nursing Home in Ocala, Fla.
Born Dec. 29, 1919, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Gorman Troxell Broadwater and Pearl Edna (Broadwater) Broadwater. A son, Leslie H. Broadwater Sr.; two brothers, Homer H. Broadwater and Frederick G. Broadwater; and one sister, Edna M. Wilt, preceded her in death.
Viola attended the Church of the Brethren for many years and was a Sunday school teacher. In recent years, she was a member and attended the Frostburg Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are a son, Ronald W. Broadwater and wife Sondra of Barton; three daughters, Leota R. Michaels and husband Raymond of Owens Cross Roads, Ala., Lois V. Bishoff and husband Ronald D. of Belleview, Fla., and Lana S. Rike and husband Thomas of Leesburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Russell T. Broadwater and wife Judy of Barton; and two sisters, Bernice L. Guinn of Barton, and Helen M. Thomas of Glen Burnie.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Funeral Service, P.A., Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Thursday, May 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Homer Beeman officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
