WINCHESTER, Va. — Don Robert Edwards, 63, of Myrtle Beach, S.C and Winchester, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 in Waccamaw Community Hospital, Myrtle Beach.

Mr. Edwards was born in 1945 in Slanesville, W.Va., the son of Mary Lou Edwards Riggleman and step-father, Lawrence Riggleman of Romney, W.Va.

He was a retiree of Washington Gas (formerly Shenandoah Gas) in Winchester, after 30 years service. He was the owner and operator of the Gas Store in Winchester from 1997 to 2001. Mr. Edwards was a graduate of Capon Bridge High School class of 1963.

Mr. Edwards was an avid golfer and Nascar fan. He was a member of Elks Lodge 867, Moose Lodge 1283, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 824 and a former member of the Frederick County Board of Education.

He married Bonnie Sue Roomsburg on Aug. 28, 1966 in Capon Bridge, W.Va.

Surviving with his mother, step-father, and his wife, are his sisters, Diane McTaggert of Fort Ashy, W.Va. and Bernice Snyder of Short Gap, W.Va.; step-sister, Cynthia Robinson of Damascus, Md.; and brother, Dennis Kline of Creseptown, Md.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, with the Rev. Jason Duley officiating.

Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester.
