Ruth I. Broadwater [Oakland]

OAKLAND — Ruth Ivalee Broadwater, 95, of Oakland, died Monday at her home.

Born Sept. 15, 1914 in Deer Park, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Alberta Amanda (Davis) Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Broadwater; and by her son, Kenneth Broadwater. She was the last surviving of 14 brothers and sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Broadwater of Princeton, W.Va. and Benjamin Broadwater of Deer Park; three daughters, Alberta Phillips of South Carolina, Eleanor Arnold and Nancy Stewart, both of Oakland; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N. Second St., Oakland, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. J. Wayne Hancock and the Rev. Sam Moore officiating.

Interment will follow in Deer Park Cemetery.
