Breeding, Welch wedding

WASHINGTON — On Aug. 11, 2007, Debra A. Welch and Robert Matthew Breeding were united in marriage. The double ring ceremony took place in Washington, D.C., with Chaplain Andrew Mcintosh as celebrant.

The couple celebrated their wedding vows on the deck of their 35-foot sport yacht, “The Dirty Monkey,’’ as it was anchored in front of the Washington Monument on the Potomac River.

Friends from the Bolling Air Force Base marina ferried the chaplain to the couple’s boat where he performed the short, but sweet ceremony.

For the occasion, the boat was decorated with swags of pink roses to match the single rose carried by the bride. As a special gift to the groom, the bride presented him with a bottle of wine etched with the image of the monument and the date of their vows.

After enjoying a wedding supper prepared on the boat, the couple sailed literally into the sunset and spent their honeymoon boating on the waterways surrounding our nation’s capital.

The bride is a graduate of Frostburg State University and is currently employed by the state of Maryland in the judicial system.

The groom is a graduate of Western Maryland College and a retired Maryland State Police trooper. He is presently serving as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army.

The couple is currently residing on Louisiana Avenue in Cumberland.
