Keidel-Swain marriage vows exchanged Sept. 6

CUMBERLAND — The marriage of Beth Renee Swain, daughter of Dennis Swain of Hancock and Mark and Valerie Hornbaker of Smyrna, Ga., to George Lewis Keidel IV, son of George and Karen Keidel of LaVale, took place on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumberland. The double ring ceremony was performed by Pastor Matthew Eichhorn.
The bride, escorted in marriage by her father and given in marriage by her parents, is the granddaughter of Eileen Swain, Hancock, and the late James Swain, and Phyllis Norris, Little Orleans, and the late Carl Norris. She is the great-granddaughter of Beaty Norris of Little Orleans. The bridegroom is the grandson of George and Anna Mae Keidel of LaVale and Denny and JoAnn Hockman of Cumberland. He is the great-grandson of Edna Helmstetter of LaVale.
The bride wore a strapless, satin, A-line gown with side-draped bodice and asymmetrical skirt and a black satin sash around her waist. She wore her mother’s veil and a silver bridal comb decorated with crystals. She wore a necklace and earrings of pearls and Swarovski crystals, made by her mother.
Deidre Swain of Hancock was her sister’s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mia Hornbaker, stepsister, Hancock; Jodi Keefer, friend, Hancock; Ashley Powers, friend, Hancock; and Nikkia Watson, friend, Warfordsburg, Pa. Junior bridesmaid was Abbie Gerber, friend of bride. Flower girl was Katie Gerber, friend of bride. The maid of honor wore a black dress, while the bridesmaids and junior bridesmaid wore canary yellow dresses of their choice. The flower girl wore a white dress with a black sash. The dresses were accented with pear necklaces and pearl earrings made by the bride’s mother. The bride and bridesmaids carried elegant bouquets of white roses by Petals-N-Bows of Hancock.
Matthew Snyder, friend of groom, Cumberland, served as best man. Groomsmen were Levi Lutz, friend, LaVale; Nate Hartsock, friend, Woodbridge, Va.; Ryan Foster, friend, Cresaptown; and Patrick Willison, friend, Cumberland. Serving as junior groomsman was cousin of the groom, Garrett Keidel. Serving as ring bearer was cousin of the groom, Greg Keidel. The groom wore a black shadow-stripe tuxedo with a black shirt and white vest and tie. The groomsmen, junior groomsman and ring bearer wore black shadow stripe tuxedoes with canary yellow vests and ties.
The guest book attendants were Jennifer Keidel, sister of the groom, and Rachel Norris, cousin of the bride. The photography was done by Leasure Photography of Cumberland. The pianist was Laura Godfrey and the wedding coordinator was Alicia White.
The reception was held at the Holiday Inn in the banquet hall. A lovely buffet-style dinner was served. The blessing at the reception was given by Pastor Edward Guyer, pastor at Grace Christian Fellowship in Hancock. The beautiful five-tier square cake was prepared by the bride’s mother.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner in honor of the bride and groom at Cumberland Country Club.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Hancock Middle Senior High School and a 2006 graduate of Allegany College of Maryland, with an associate of applied science degree in dental hygiene. She is employed as a registered dental hygienist with Allegany Dental Care in Hagerstown.
The groom is a 2001 graduate of Calvary Christian Academy in Cresaptown. He is employed as a sales associate with Bowman Truck Sales in Hagerstown.
The couple honeymooned for one week in Puerto Vallarto, Mexico.
They currently reside in Hancock.
