Kerns, Abrell wedding

OLDTOWN — Ashley Nichole Abrell and Joshua Scott Kerns were united in marriage on Nov. 24, 2007, in a private ceremony at the Oldtown Baptist Church in Oldtown. The Pastor Joseph DiNicola officiated.

On May 3, 2008, after Joshua graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and completed Tech School at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss., Ashley and Joshua exchanged vows in a formal Christian ceremony witnessed by family and friends at Graceland Baptist Church in Short Gap, W.Va. Pastor Joseph DiNicola also officiated at the formal ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Lisa and Eugene Shutts of Oldtown. She is the granddaughter of Douglas and Sandra Sentz of Green Spring, W.Va., and Boyd and Jeanie Abrell of Paw Paw, W.Va.

The groom is the son of Kenneth D. Kerns of Paw Paw and Tammy House of Oldtown. He is the grandson of Butch and Helene Kerns of Paw Paw, Linda Kerns of Paw Paw and Patricia Kidwell of Cumberland.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore a floor-length, princess-cut gown and carried a bouquet of blue and white carnations.

Serving as maid of honor was Diane Stewart, aunt of the bride. Bridesmaids were Brittany Kerns, sister of the groom; Morgann Moser, cousin of the groom; and Savannah Hartsock, friend of the bride. Flower girls were Jacilyn Shutts, sister of the bride ,and Kelsey House, niece of the groom.

Serving as the best man was Kenneth R. Kerns, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Shane McDonald, friend of the groom; Jeremy Abrell, brother of the bride; and Matthew Heath, friend of the groom.

The reception was held at the Oldtown VFW. The dinner was prepared by Lisa Shutts, mother of the bride, and Sandra Sentz, grandmother of the bride. Appetizers were provided by Tammy House, mother of the groom. The wedding cake was designed and baked by Karen Lewis. Special toasts were given by the best man, Kenneth R. Kerns, and the maid of honor, Diane Stewart.

Ashley is a 2006 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She is employed with the Child Development Center as a lead teacher at Lajes Field, Air Base in Portugal.

Joshua is a 2007 graduate of Paw Paw High School. He is serving in the United States Air Force and stationed overseas at Lajes Field Air Base in Portugal.

Ashley and Joshua would like to thank everyone who helped make their wedding day so special. It has been a very interesting first year of marriage and we want to thank God, our families and friends for their love and support.
