Jessica Wharton becomes bride of Corey Allen Farris

LAVALE — Jessica Lynn Wharton and Corey Allen Farris were united in marriage on July 12, 2008. The double ring ceremony took place at LaVale United Methodist Church, LaVale. The Rev. George Harpold performed the beautiful ceremony. A reception followed at the Cumberland Holiday Inn, Cumberland.
The bride is the daughter of Warren and Barbara Porter of Eckhart and Ronald and Lorri Wharton of Oldtown. She is the granddaughter of Jim and JoAnn Walker of Orange City, Fla.; George and Leona Porter of Eckhart; Steve and Rita Gedeon of Oldtown; and Gary and Lucy Smith of Eckhart.
The groom is the son of Teresa Farris of Mount Savage and Dale and Kim Farris of Cumberland. He is the grandson of Sandy Dahl of Cumberland.
The bride was escorted to the altar by both her father and stepfather. The bride wore an Alfred Angelo Dream In Color gown. The gown was white luster satin with a claret embroidered bodice band, an embroidered pearl and crystal beaded bodice, claret inset sequined lace-up corset back and an embroidered and sequined semi-cathedral train. She wore a white veil trimmed with beads and a crystal and beaded tiara headpiece. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of red roses, white honeysuckle, pearls and ivy with silver and pearl ribbon. She wore crystal necklace and earrings.
Serving as maid of honor was Ashley Miles friend of bride, wearing a silver strapless A-line gown with a silver shaw. Bridesmaids were Beverley Delaney, friend of bride, Rachel Farris, sister-in-law to the groom, and Veronica Schaidt, friend of the bride, who all wore red strapless A-line gowns with red shaws. All wore crystal necklaces and earrings, gift from the bride, and carried bouquets of red roses, white honeysuckle with pearls and ivy, with red, silver and pearl ribbon. Flower girls were Madison Wharton, sister of the bride, Makenna Farris, niece of the groom, and Taylor Farris, niece of the groom. The flower girls wore white chiffon with red rosebud tea-length dresses and floral hair bands. All the bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres were made by the groom's mother.
The groom wore a white tux with a claret vest and bow tie, by Perry Ellis. Jamie Farris served as his brother’s best man and wore a black tux with silver vest and bow tie. Groomsmen were Anthony Farris, brother of groom, Tyler Farris, brother of groom, and Brandon Porter, brother of the bride, all of whom wore black tuxes with claret vests and bow ties.
Programs and bubbles were handed out by Ariana and Brayden Hedrick, cousins of the groom. Organist for the ceremony was Brenda Moreland. Wedding coordinator for the ceremony was Mary Reed. Photography was by Photography by Jeannine. Videography was provided by Michael's Digital Imaging. Music for the reception was provided by Sounds Fun Entertainment. The four-tier white wedding cake with red roses was handmade and decorated by Rita Gedeon, the bride's grandmother.
The bride is a graduate of Beall High School and Frostburg State University and is employed at Bishop Walsh School, in the education field.
The groom is a graduate of Allegany High School and is currently employed by the Maryland State Correctional Division.
The couple honeymooned in Myrtle Beach, S.C. They currently reside in Eckhart.
The bride and groom would like to thank all of their family and friends who helped to make their special day possible and celebrated it with them.
