Reyes, Wilhelm wedding

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. - Dian (Winters) Wilhelm and Carlos R. Reyes were united in holy matrimony at a private wedding at the bride's home in Bedford County on Saturday, March 8, 2008. A reception followed at the Corrigansville Fire Hall, Corrigansville, Md.

The Rev. William Defibaugh Jr., pastor of Bedford County Christian Church, officiated the ceremony. Special music was provided by Pastor Defibaugh and his wife Lisa.

Frances Becker of Catawba, S.C., served as her sister's matron of honor. The Rev. Lee Maley of Dunbar served as best man for the groom. Cayden A. Wilhelm, Little Orleans, Md., served as ring bearer for his grandmother.

Ms. Wilhelm, Bedford County, is employed by BMA Healthcare, Lutherville, Md., and is the executive director of R.A.V.E. Ministries Inc., Cumberland, Md.

Mr. Reyes, LaVale, Md., is the founder and executive director of Daybreak Ministries Inc., Cumberland.

The home was decorated with cascading white cante lilies, purple bows and lighted staircase.

The bride wore a cream-colored satin and silk ruffled layered wedding gown accented with silver and white accessories and a teardrop necklace given to her as a gift.

The couple recited traditional wedding vows and exchanged matching gold wedding rings designed especially for the couple. Mary Ann Schriver, Cumberland, offered a prayer of blessing over the couple and guests attending the ceremony.

The hall was decorated in a vintage motif. lavender, plum and white. Wedding bells, balloons and vintage figurines accented the tables. Place settings were set with beige guest gift bags decorated with vintage buttons and lace. Candy bars were decorated with a poem dedicating the couple's love for each other, "We Don't Know How It Happened," written by the bride. Table centerpieces of purple roses and candle votives were given away to guests who attended the reception.

Shelby Gable decorated a five-layer cake with a waterfall and bride and groom cake topper from the 1960's which completed the vintage motif.

Special Spanish food was provided by James and Deb Valentin of Dunbar.

Photographs were taken by Pearl Forbes, Bedford. Mary Ann Schriver registered guests. Sherry Curry, LaVale, Md., produced a big screen slide show of family and ministry photos which was presented during the reception.

Denise Maley, Dunbar, Frances Becker, Catawba, and Sandra Cannon, Eckhart, Md., cut and served the wedding cake.

Joseph and Judy Winters Jr. of York, S.C., designed a plum-colored card box decorated with vintage buttons and lace.

Special thanks to Kenney Minnick, Hyndman, Pearl Forbes, Sherry Curry, Mary Ann Schriver and Diane Winters for decorating the hall and making the reception a memorable one.

Guests toasted the couple by sharing how they were acquainted with the bride and groom.

Guests attending the wedding were from oceanside California, Catawba, S.C., Pittsburgh; Dunbar; Vienna, Va.; Uniontown; Bedford; Morgantown, W.Va.; and locally.

A surprise reception was given by the congregation of Springfield Assembly of God Church at the church fellowship hall in Springfield, W.Va. A beautiful four-tier wedding cake and refreshments were served. The couple was presented with magnolia corsages.

The Reyeses went to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for their honeymoon and are residing in Bedford County.

Carlos and Dian express their gratitude to those who attended their special day and sent gifts and cards to commemorate their wedding day.
