Croston, Slider wedding

Cumberland Times-News

CUMBERLAND — Miss Tara Lyne Slider and Mr. Garrett Lee Croston were united in marriage on July 7, 2007, at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Cumberland. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Monsignor Thomas Bevan.

The bride is the daughter of Debra and Jeffrey L. Slider, LaVale. The groom’s parents are Linda and Gary W. Croston, Frostburg.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted down the aisle by her father. Musical selections were played before, during and after the ceremony by Mr. Mark Steiner and solos were sung by Miss Alexandra Cozart and Mrs. Andrea Ziler, friends of the bride.

A memorial candle wreath in loving memory of the bride’s grandfathers, Mr. LeRoy H. Moore and Mr. John R. Slider, the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Mary “Teddie” Slider, and of the groom’s grandparents, Mrs. Nellie Mae Croston and Mr. Glenn J. Loar, was carried to the altar by the bride’s friend, Mr. Justin Schellhaus.

The bride wore an ivory strapless satin dress with crystal beading and carried her grandmother’s light blue rosary amidst her bouquet.

Miss Aimee Slider, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Friends of the bride, Miss Victoria K. Skae, Miss Rachel L. Ellsworth, Miss Jennifer M. Cook, Mrs. Jacqueline M. Parsons, Miss Megan L. Broadwater and Miss Christa A. Kucharczyk, were bridesmaids. Miss Kathryn N. Ruppert, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.

Mr. Bernard Wynder, friend of the groom, was the best man. Mr. Thomas E. Bevan, Mr. Jeffrey B. Klinetob, Mr. Brandon Kerr, Mr. Justin Rephann and Mr. Christopher J. Connelly were groomsmen. The ring bearer was Mr. Andrew J. T. Croston, nephew of the groom.

Friends of the bride, Mr. Justin Schellhaus and Miss Jessica Smith, attended the guest book and distributed programs and bubbles. Wedding coordinators, Cortlyn and Debbie Morgan, are specially thanked for their irreplaceable organizational skills.

Guests attended a reception, dinner and dancing at the Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort. A collage DVD, edited and produced by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Waasdorp, entertained the guests during dinner. Music was provided by Jonny Rock, photography by Mr. George Knotts of G&G Studios, and videography by Ken Nolan. The five-tier wedding cake was designed and made by the groom’s aunt, Mrs. Diana Kifer. Church floral arrangements and the bridal bouquet were provided by PharmaCare Floral and Gift Shoppe. The boutonnieres, bridesmaids’ bouquets and mothers’ and grandmothers’ corsages were made by the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Peggy Shifflett. Limousine service was furnished by Ernie Elliott of Allegany Limousines.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom at the Cumberland Holiday Inn. Tara was surprised with a bridal shower provided by her maid of honor and her bridesmaids at the Sand Springs Saloon and Steakhouse, Frostburg, where Garrett was also treated to a bachelor party by his groomsmen and best man.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Allegany High School and a 2007 graduate of Frostburg State University with bachelor of science degrees in biology and secondary education and a minor in chemistry. She is currently attending West Virginia University’s School of Medicine for her doctorate in biomedicine.

The groom is a 2000 graduate of Beall High School and a 2007 graduate of Frostburg State University with a degree in business administration. He is currently employed in the management of Naylor’s Ace Hardware, Oakland.

The couple honeymooned in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and currently resides in Morgantown, W.Va.

Tara and Garrett would like to thank all of their families and friends who helped to make their special day possible and who celebrated it with them.
