CUMBERLAND — Miss Abbey Sue Campbell and Mr. Colin Franklin Jackson were united in marriage on May 10, 2008, at Central Assembly of God Church, Cumberland. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Stephen Stover, Seneca, S.C., and the Rev. John May, Stephens City, Va.
The bride is the daughter of Brad and Sherry Campbell, Cumberland. The groom is the son of Ian and Terry Jackson, Auburndale, Fla.
Roses were placed on the altar in loving memory of Marette Jackson, grandmother of the groom, and Ben Tasker, dear friend of the bride.
The bride, escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents, wore a sweetheart halter gown with corset bodice enhanced with crystal and sequins beading and A-line skirt highlighted with beaded embroidery and a cathedral train. The gown was accented with a bouquet of red roses and cascading orchids.
The ceremony featured the couple’s first communion and an altar of remembrance built by family and friends placing white stones in a vase as they entered the ceremony. The couple poured crystals around the stones as a symbol of their commitment to God and each other. The Rev. John May pronounced blessings on the couple written by the fathers. Shannon Lewis, Charlottesville, Va., and Faith Lorman, Elkton, provided music.
Mrs. Kaila England, Cumberland, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sandy Brown, Melody Lineback, Sarah Burrows and Natalie Monson, friends of the bride, Alissa Jackson, sister of the groom, and Becky Casteel, cousin of the bride. Reagan May was junior bridesmaid and flower girl was Sani Frank.
Serving as best man was Wayne McCarty Jr., Auburndale, Fla. Groomsmen were Donald Ready, Jimmy Carnes, Trey Piker, Shane Frank and Shayne Piker, friends of the groom, and Seth Campbell, brother of the bride. Ryder May was junior groomsman and Zane Frank was Bible bearer.
Guest book and stone altar attendants were Mariana Carnes, Cassie Brown, Josh England and Jared Yacenech. Denise May and Susie Tasker served as wedding and reception coordinators.
Honored guests included Denise Piker, Sheila and Miranda McCarty, Ancel and Karen Stover and Kathy Barton, all of Florida; Denise May, Stephens City, Va.; Jeffrey Tasker, Houston, Texas; and Susie Tasker, Cumberland. Guests honored in absentia were Billy and Rachael Ready, Florida.
The couple was transported to the Holiday Inn reception in a vintage 1937 red metallic Packard graciously given and chauffeured by a friend of the bride. The reception featured a décor of red tulle, lights and flowers. Scott Furey, Keyser, W.Va., provided the music and served as master of ceremonies for the reception.
The couple honeymooned with a cruise to the western Caribbean.
Abbey was honored with a shower given by the ladies of Central Assembly, Auburndale, Fla., and another shower given by Kaila England, Susie Tasker and the ladies of Calvary Assembly of God, Fort Ashby, W.Va. A personal shower was given by her bridesmaids.
Colin was the guest at a party in his honor given by his groomsmen.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Fort Hill High School and a 2007 graduate of Southeastern University, Lakeland, Fla. She is employed as a kindergarten teacher by the Polk County, Fla., School Board.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Auburndale High School and attends Southeastern University. He is employed by Bartow Ford and is also youth pastor at Central Assembly of God, Auburndale, Fla.
Colin and Abbey wish to thank all those who made their wedding day so special by sharing it with them.
