Kozlowski, Upchurch Wedding

RIDGELEY, W.Va. — The Commons in Topsfield, Mass., was the setting for the Sept. 4, 2010, wedding of Kelly Jo Upchurch and Kyle Richard Kozlowski.

Arthur Laurie, justice of the peace and friend of the bridal couple, officiated the wedding ceremony.

Kelly is the daughter of Gary and Wendy Upchurch, Ridgeley. She is the granddaughter of Fred and Fern Novak, Towson, Md., Shirley Upchurch, Cumberland, and the late Asby “Doc” Upchurch.

Kyle is the son of Richard and Susan Kozlowski, Milford, Mass. He is the grandson of Henry Charzenski, Milford, and the late Helen Charzenski and Edward and Ruth Koz-lowski.

The bride wore a Jasmine couture ivory satin gown that featured a V-neck and bodice adorned with crystals, sequins and silver embroidery. The adornment continued on the bottom of the ball gown. The chapel-length train featured two rows of cascading pleats. Her single-layer, elbow-length veil was adorned with scattered crystals. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of Midnight and Black Baccara roses with crystals and red dyed ostrich feathers. The bride wore matching pearl necklace and earrings, a gift from her groom.

For her something “old,” Kelly was fortunate to have her maternal great-grandmother’s engagement ring, to have as her own, along with her rosary beads. She borrowed her maternal great-great-grandmother’s diamond necklace, which she wore as a bracelet.

Serving as her sister’s matron of honor was Amy Tootle. Bridesmaids included Mary Caitlin Hannon, friend of the bride, Jacqueline Bryant, friend of the bride, Kelsey Kozlowski, sister of the groom, Ruth Savitsky, Diana Porter and Tracy O’Connor, friends of the bride. They were outfitted in Alfred Angelo gowns featuring black taffeta skirts and ivory bodies with black lace detail. The bridesmaids carried bouquets of red roses and antique hydrangeas.

Dean Charzenski, cousin of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Ryan O’Rourke, J.D. Leggett and Brian Kelley, all friends of the groom, Kasey Charzenski, cousin of the groom, and Brian Tootle, brother-in-law of the bride.

Peyton Tootle, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. Wearing an ivory and deep red dress, she carried a basket of deep red rose petals. Benjamin Porter, friend of the couple, was the ring bearer and carried a deep red satin pillow.

The couple was pleased to have friends, George O’Connor, Michael Chapman, Timothy Porter and Alexander Savitsky serve as ushers for the ceremony.

For the wedding ceremony table, the couple used the bride’s paternal grandmother’s Bible along with pewter candlesticks, a present from the bride’s godmother. Flowers that adorned the table were presented in loving memory of dear family members and friends.

The ceremony table had an arrangement of red roses and hanging amaranthus. The front of the ceremony space featured floor to ceiling strands of cascading red roses.

The ceremony music was provided by Lea Ann Martin, friend of the bride.

The wedding flowers were designed by Annette Rinaldi of Wedding Flowers by Annette, Revere, Mass.

The reception began with a social hour in The Commons’ gardens. The guests then returned to the ballroom for dinner and dancing, where George O’Connor served as master of ceremonies. Kelly and Kyle danced to “Brighter Than Sunshine” by Aqualung for their first dance. The bride and her father shared a dance to “Roll With It Baby” by Steve Winwood, and the groom and his mother danced to “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns and Roses.

The red, black, and ivory “Mad Hatter” cake was prepared by Mary Bandereck of The Topsfield Bake Shop. Standing guard over the cake was Boba Fett, a surprise from the bride to her groom in homage to his favorite movie, “Star Wars.”

For favors, the bridal couple had beautiful hand-blown glass ornaments made by Garth Wagoner, Fort Ashby.

For their honeymoon, Kyle and Kelly enjoyed a week-long cruise to the Western Caribbean. The following week, the bridal couple went to Disney World.

Kelly and Kyle were delighted so many of their family and friends could attend the wedding. Guests came from West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Maine, Delaware, Florida and Hong Kong.

The couple would like to thank family and friends for sharing in their special day, as well as everyone’s assistance with the wedding plans. Kelly and Kyle especially thank dear family friends, Jon and Linda Markley, for their assistance in getting everyone (and everything!) from Maryland to Massachusetts ... and back!

They are grateful that Arthur Laurie was able to fly in from Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi to perform the ceremony. Thanks, also, to Kyle Kydd for the use of his sound equipment for the wedding and reception.

The couple currently resides in Natick, Mass.
