Light, Parsons wedding

PINTO — Jennifer Rachelle Parsons and Nathan David Light were united in marriage one year ago on Sept. 22, 2012. The double ring ceremony took place at Pinto Mennonite Church and Pastor Phil Dayton, family friend, officiated the ceremony.

Jennifer is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rich and Terry Parsons of Ridgeley, W.Va.  She is the granddaughter of the late Ernie and Hilda Parsons of Ridgeley and the late Harvey and Isabelle Bradley of Ridgeley.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan and Ann Light of Pinto. He is the grandson of the late Daniel and Charlotte Light of Ridgeley and the late George and Martha Swick of Broadway, V.a.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was escorted down the aisle by her father.  She wore a taffeta gown embellished with Swarovski crystals from Potomac Bridals and carried a bouquet of orange ranunculus, light blue hydrangea and ivory garden roses adorned by navy and white striped ribbon.

Serving as matron of honor was Lauren Llewellyn, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were   Sarah Rineer,  Amanda Offutt,  Erin McGinnis and Allison Ransom, all friends of the bride. They wore navy dupioni silk dresses in the style of their choice. Brooke Dayton of Cameo Salon, Short Gap, W.Va., provided makeup and hairstyling. Kendra Morris provided manicures for all the bridesmaids.

Serving as best man was Matt Habersack, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Mark Light, brother of the groom; and Eric Moreland, Kevin Livengood and Chris Kenney, friends of the groom. The groom and groomsmen wore khaki suits with navy and orange striped ties from Crestmont in Frostburg.

Kati Kenney, friend of the couple, was the matron of ceremonies. Rachel Staggs, sister of the groom, and Leah Foreman, cousin of the bride, served as attendants.  Samantha Snyder, Kyler Baker, and Ashlynn Light, nieces and nephew of the groom, served as junior attendants. Aaron Livengood, friend of the groom, delivered a reading and Amy Riffle-Kouyeas provided music for the ceremony. Floral creations were by Yvonne Gahagan, of Williamsport, Pa. Derek & Diane Photography, Short Gap, provided photography.

The reception was held at the Allegany Museum in Downtown Cumberland, where a cocktail hour and dinner were served by Olive Catering. The couple shared their first dance to “True Love” by Don Williams. Mountain Flour Bakery provided a two-tier wedding cake and cupcakes.

Dan and Ann Light hosted a rehearsal dinner at Fore Sisters Golf Course in Rawlings. The bridesmaids hosted an outdoor shower at the Gilchrist Gallery and Museum in Cumberland.

Jennifer is a 2004 graduate of Frankfort High School, Short Gap. She earned a bachelor of architecture degree from Virginia Tech in 2009 and a doctorate in human and community development from West Virginia University in 2012. She is currently employed with the Downtown Development Commission as Cumberland’s Downtown Manager.

Nathan is a 1995 graduate of Fort Hill High School, Cumberland. He is a member of the Local Union 1024 Carpenters and is currently employed with Walter N. Yoder and Sons, Inc. as a millwright.

Nathan and Jennifer honeymooned in Jackson Hole, Wyo., and now live in their new home in Ridgeley.
