Hale, Linn wedding

FROSTBURG— Michaela Ann Linn and Luke Allen Hale were united in marriage on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Frostburg United Methodist Church in Frostburg. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Pastor Jennifer Webber. Organist was Dr. Sean Beachy. String quartet members were Patricia Aaron, Charlene Moon, Karen Treber, and Clare Cooper. Former students of the bride, Shelby Herbert and Jordan Kline were vocalists. The bride is the daughter of David M. Linn and the late Vicki K. Linn of Frostburg. She is the granddaughter of Margaret Linn, Frostburg.

The groom is the son of Willa J. Hale and the late Kenneth Robert Hale of Indianapolis, Ind.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore, “Adorae,” a Sottero-Midgley gown from Kleinfeld’s in New York City. The satin mermaid gown had a sweetheart neckline and hand-beaded belt with ruching that enveloped the bodice and an asymmetrical drop waist. The chapel train gathered in the back to one side with beading and balloon hem. The fingertip-length veil was modified from the headpiece that was worn by the bride’s mother on her wedding day in 1959. The bride wore Kenneth J. Lane “Wedding Day” earrings and matching bracelet. Her shoes were purple satin with sequins, a gift from bridesmaid and husband, Crista and Duane Gomer. In her shoe, the bride carried a lucky sixpence borrowed from the matron of honor, which was a gift given to the matron of honor on her wedding day by the bride. The bride also wore a string of Tiffany pearls, a surprise wedding day gift from the groom. The bride carried a bouquet of purple hydrangeas, roses and daisies made by Georges Creek Florist and close family friend, Irene Spataro.

Lori Miller, Frostburg, served as matron of honor.  Bridesmaids were Crista Gomer, Bedford, Pa., and niece of the bride, Kelsey Linn, of Portage, Mich.  They wore amethyst one-shoulder asymmetrical Vera Wang gowns and carried a smaller version of the bride’s bouquet.

Dr. Jeffrey Wildridge, Arlington, Texas, served as the best man. Groomsmen were brother of the bride, Dr. David M. Linn Jr., and David M. Linn, III, nephew of the bride, both from Portage. The groom wore a black tux with ivory vest and tie. His lapel was adorned with a white rose. The groomsmen wore matching tuxes with amethyst vests, ties, and purple roses on the lapel. All tuxes were from Crestmont in Frostburg.

Alexandra Arnaud and Alexandra Longest, cousins of the bride, distributed programs to the congregation. Vicky Lauber, sister of the groom, and Cindy Linn, sister-in-law of the bride, read poems during the ceremony.

Music is very important to both the bride and groom. Music of the Beatles was featured in the pre-ceremony music. Their ceremony was filled with beautiful organ, piano, string and vocal music. The groom and bridesmaids entered the ceremony to Shelby Herbert’s rendition of “At Last.” At the groom’s request, the bride entered the sanctuary by the traditional playing of Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus” on organ with string accompaniment. “The Prayer” was performed beautifully by Shelby Herbert and Jordan Kline during the unity sand ceremony.

A floral arrangement was placed on the piano in memory of the bride’s mother and groom’s father. Photography was provided by Ed Geis of Moriah K Photography. Videography was provided by Ken Nolan of Phase I Productions.

A reception followed at Frostburg State University’s Lane Center.  The reception area was decorated by the Lane Center staff and friends with lanterns and hanging wisteria and the lighting of green and purple gave a garden effect. Pre-reception music was provided by Patricia Aaron, Charlene Moon, Karen Treber and Clare Cooper. Reception music, designed by the groom, was provided by DJ Eric Malotte. The bride and groom’s first dance was to “My Love,” sung by Paul McCartney the night of the couple’s engagement at McCartney’s concert in Pittsburgh. Sir Paul himself announced their engagement to the crowd of 19,000 well-wishers.

The three-tier bride’s cake was white with lemon filling and was decorated with art work that matched the wedding invitations. The center tier of the cake was embellished to match the bride’s belt on her wedding dress. The groom’s cake was a three-tier red velvet cake decorated with fondant and a Beatles theme. The cakes were baked and lovingly decorated by Lorenzo’s Bakery in Frostburg.

A rehearsal dinner was held at The Hangar the evening before the ceremony and was hosted by the groom’s mother. The bride was the guest of honor at two bridal showers; the first given by her Aunts Ruth Kennedy and Shirley Linn, and cousin Denise Kennedy Longest at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the second given by her bridesmaids Lori Miller and Crista Gomer at Sand Springs Restaurant.

A graduate of Beall High School and Frostburg State University, the bride is pursuing a master of music education from Shenandoah Conservatory. She is employed as the vocal music and drama director at Mountain Ridge High School.

The groom is a graduate of Howe High School and Indiana University. He is employed by the Sanders Group and Bankers Life Field House.

As enthusiasts of theatre and music, the couple spent their honeymoon in New York City, where they took in three Broadway productions and were members of the Late Night with David Letterman audience.

The bride and groom would like to thank their family and friends for being so supportive and loving. It was a blessing to have them share in their special day. They also want to remind everyone that, “All You Need Is Love.”
