Jennie Miltenberger weds Nicholas Sefcik

CUMBERLAND — One year ago today, on September 22, 2012, Jennie Elizabeth Miltenberger and Nicholas David Sefcik were united in marriage at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Cumberland. The wedding ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Edward C. Chapman.

The bride is the daughter of David and Dianne Miltenberger of Cumberland. She is the granddaughter of the late Beatrice Fey and the late George C. Fey Jr. and Nellie Loretta Miltenberger and the late Henry F. Miltenberger, all of Cumberland.

The groom is the son of David and Donna Sefcik of Gaithersburg. He is the grandson of Donnie and Patricia Elmore of Derwood and Anthony and Teresa Sefcik of College Park.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a gorgeous ivory Maggie Sottero gown which she had customized. The satin gown was draped with lace featuring a delicately scalloped neckline and chapel-length train. The waist was highlighted with a pleated satin band and floral corsage embellished with Swarovski crystals. The bride complemented the gown with a chapel-length veil featuring a lace and crystal scalloped edge. The diamond tear drop earrings she wore were a gift from her parents, signifying “something new.” The bride’s “something old” and “something borrowed” was the six pence her mother wore in her shoe on her wedding day.  The phrase “September 22, 2012” in blue thread was sown into the bride’s gown as her “something blue.” Jennie carried an exquisite bouquet of ivory hydrangeas, ranunculus, freesia, garden roses, and astilbe created by PharmaCare Floral of Cumberland.

Rebecca Miltenberger, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Dicks, Julie Spause, Brittany Bond, Laura Giffin, and Kalynn Sefcik. They wore purple colored knee-length Mori Lee gowns and carried bouquets of garden roses, dahlias, alstroemeria, sweet pea, and spider mums in various shades of purple. All bouquets were created by PharmaCare Floral of Cumberland.

Kyle Sefcik, brother of the groom, served as best man.  Groomsmen were Ryan Chandler, Chris Davidson, Zach Vena, Jason Miltenberger, and John Repass. The groom wore a dark grey tuxedo with ivory shirt, vest, and tie and an ivory ranunculus boutonniere to coordinate with the bride’s bouquet. The groomsmen also wore grey tuxedos with ivory shirts and purple colored vests and ties, which matched the bridesmaids’ dresses perfectly. They wore purple garden rose boutonnieres. All boutonnieres were created by PharmaCare Floral of Cumberland.

The flower girl was Samantha Repass, friend of the bride and groom. Ring bearer was Jared Dolinka, cousin of the groom.

Kristen Repass, friend of the bride and groom, served as guestbook attendant. Kendra Dolinka, cousin of the groom, distributed programs. Rebecca Miltenberger, read the poem “I Carry Your Heart With Me” written by E. E. Cummings. The bride and groom chose 1 Corinthians 13: 1-13 and Mark 10: 6-9, 13-16 for their readings.

Mark Steiner served as organist. Jordan Kline, friend of the bride, served as the vocalist, singing “When You Say You Love Me” by Josh Groban during the signing of the Parish Register.

Two bouquets of ivory hydrangeas and gladiolus, as well as garden roses, sweet pea and dahlias in various shades of purple, adorned the altar in loving memory of the bride’s brother and grandfathers.

The bride and groom, along with their bridal party, were chauffeured to the reception at Maplehurst Country Club in Frostburg by A Touch of Class limousine service located in Frederick. A cocktail hour was followed by a buffet-style meal catered by The Food Fellas located in Morgantown, W.Va.  Toasts were given by the maid of honor and best man. One of the couple’s favorite design aspects of their reception was the large “S” monogram created entirely of ivory daisies, which hung behind their sweetheart table during the reception.

Music was provided by the groom’s brother, Kyle Sefcik, and friend, Andrew Robinson, of K-Sef Entertainment. The couple danced their first dance as husband and wife to “Back at One” by Brian Mc-Knight. The bride and her father enjoyed a dance to “My Girl” by The Temptations, while the groom and his mother danced to “A Mother’s Prayer” by Bonnie J. Barbey.

The four-tier wedding cake was prepared by Tammy Seminerio of Lorenzo’s Frostburg Bakery in Frostburg. Each tier featured a different flavor, including the couple’s top tier with white cake and strawberry filling, red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream filling, and white cake with strawberry filling. The cake was covered in ivory butter cream icing and designed by the bride, groom, and Tammy. The intricate details of the cake’s design mirrored the design and theme of the invitations, which was present throughout the wedding. The flower arrangement of ivory hydrangeas, freesia, and astilbe atop the top tier was created by PharmaCare Floral of Cumberland. Ivory hydrangeas also lined the bottom of the cake for an elegant look. Reception centerpieces were also created by PharmaCare Floral.

The couple surprised their guests with a fabulous fireworks display near the end of the evening. They had a “sparkling” exit from the venue as guests lined up outside with sparklers. Guest favors included a candy bar stocked with the bride and groom’s favorite candies.

A rehearsal dinner at Fratelli Italian Restaurant and Bar, LaVale, took place the evening before the ceremony and was hosted by the groom’s parents. A bridal shower in honor of the bride was given in August by the maid of honor and bridesmaids.

Jennie is a 2006 graduate of Fort Hill High School and a 2011 graduate of Frostburg State University, where she received bachelor’s degrees in both accounting and business administration, with a concentration in general management.
