Cumberland Times-News

— MIDLOTHIAN — On July 7, 2012, Elizabeth Nicole Walker and Christopher James Miller were united in marriage in front of close family and friends. The ceremony took place at the home church of the couple, Trinity Assembly of God in Midlothian. Pastor Rob Culler officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Nathan and Laurie Walker. Elizabeth is the granddaughter of George and Linda Walker, Linda Miller and the late Chester Miller and the great-granddaughter of Naomi Savage and Ruth Stanton, all of Western Maryland.

The groom is the son of Jim and Julie Miller. Chris is the grandson of Dave and Gladys Bowman and the late Jim and Theresa Miller of Frostburg.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. Elizabeth wore a diamond white gown designed by Maggie Sottero. It was a one-piece, strapless, slim A-line gown with corset closure. This style featured a sweetheart neckline adorned with beaded lace embellishments. The ruched bodice draped asymmetrically at the waist and a beaded motif accented the side front. Her jewelry selection included a pearl necklace and bracelet, courtesy of the bride’s maternal grandparents, and coordinating pearl earrings. A complementary ring was also worn, a gift from her paternal great-grandmother. Elizabeth carried a bouquet of white roses accented with jewels and pearls, compliments of Aunt Kayla.

Serving as maid of honor was Kaitlyn Walker, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids included Abbey (Bond) Brodie, friend of the bride, and Shannon Miller, sister of the groom. They wore purple strapless dresses, accented with a black belt and carried white rose bouquets. Kylee Bittner,  daughter of Josh Bittner and Natasha Engle, friends of the bride, served as flower girl. Special thanks to Michelle Robey, Mary Kay consultant, for doing the bride’s makeup, and Ashley of Hair Raisers for providing hairstyling.

The groom wore a classic black suit with white vest and tie over a black shirt. Serving as best man was Ryan Garlitz, friend of the groom. Groomsmen included Tim Smith and Adam Skidmore, friends of the groom. Ring bearers included Mathew and Nathan Leary, sons of TJ and Felicia Leary, family friends of the bride and family. Mathew carried a lace pillow made by the bride’s paternal grandmother. The groomsmen and ring bearers were dressed in classic black suits with purple vests and ties over black shirts. The groom, groomsmen, and ring bearers wore single white rose boutonnieres. Georges Creek Florist in Lonaconing provided the flowers.

The couple chose modern music selections to accompany the traditional Christian ceremony. Elizabeth and Chris would like to thank George Walker, uncle of the bride, for reading Scripture during the ceremony. Lori and Madi Magruder assisted with the guestbook and programs. Rose Opel assisted the bridal party and family pre-ceremony.

The bride and groom were chauffeured by Tim and Trina Sanders, uncle and aunt of the bride, in a 2012 black Ford SVT Raptor Super Crew. The reception was held at the Wilhelm Recreation Center in Avilton. The reception included an appetizer hour before the meal was served buffet-style, prepared by Goeringer’s Catering of Accident. A cupcake tree consisted of the couple’s favorites — yellow cake with chocolate frosting and red velvet with cream cheese frosting, prepared by Bonnie Goebel of Mount Savage. A cookie table included assorted pastries, courtesy of the bride’s family. Special thanks to Maggie Wilson for helping with the reception details.

Alex O’Neal Entertainment of Morgantown, W.Va., provided music for the reception. The couple’s first dance as husband and wife was to “Making Memories of Us” by Keith Urban. Elizabeth danced with her father to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw and Chris danced with his mother to “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Chris and Elizabeth’s memorable day was photographed by Moriah K. Photography and videographed by Jeff Hay.

The bride was given a beach-themed bridal shower hosted by both families. An outdoor rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride’s family. As a gift, the bride’s parents provided a week-long honeymoon in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Elizabeth is a 2012 graduate of Allegany College of Maryland where she received her associate of applied science degree. She is currently employed at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown as a respiratory therapist.

Chris is currently employed at Gill-Simpson, Inc. as a fourth-year electrician’s apprentice through IBEW Local 307.
