Jones-Carney wedding vows said one year ago

MOUNT SAVAGE — One year ago today, on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, Stephanie Ida Carney and Matthew Raymond Jones were united in marriage at St. Patrick’s Church in Mount Savage. The ceremony celebrant was Father Edward Hendricks.  Organist was Mark Steiner and cantore was Jeff Widdows.

The bride is the daughter of Gale Yutzy of Meyersdale, Pa., and Mark Carney of Frostburg.  She is the granddaughter of the late Robert and Ida Simpson and Rose Simpson and the late Charles and Alice Carney.

The groom is the son of David and Connie Jones of Galena.  He is the grandson of Diane and Lester Jones, Florence Samalonis, and the late Raymond Samalonis.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride entered the church to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” in a Mori Lee gown  and an elbow length veil.

Serving as maid of honor was Stephanie Sindy, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Erin Wheeler, friend of the bride and groom; Erica Rowley, friend of the bride; Arlene Carney, cousin of the bride; and ShayAnn Golden and Vicky Stafford, friends of the bride. Isabella Simpson and Paige Miller, cousins of the bride, served as flower girls.

Serving as the best man was Richard Freysz, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Colby Heiston, friend of the groom; James Carney, cousin of the bride; Matthew Carney, brother of the bride; Collin Carney, cousin of the bride; and Ethan Jones, cousin of the groom.  Max and Jackson Laznik, cousins of the groom, served as ring bearers.

Caleb Carney, cousin of the bride, and Dale Yutzy, stepfather of the bride, handed out programs. Laura Hager, friend of the bride, and Robert Simpson, uncle of the bride, did the readings during the Mass. A sunflower theme of floral bouquets, corsages, and roses in remembrance of grandparents were made by Martin’s Florist. Ferns, mums, fall foliage and pew bows in the church were provided and made by the mother of the bride and Joyce Lashley, aunt of the bride.

The bride and groom rode in the groom’s 2005 Pontiac GTO to the Cumberland Country Club.  A cocktail hour was followed by a plated dinner arranged by Pamela Lease, catering manager. The couple would like to give a special thank you to Pam for all her expertise and professionalism throughout the planning process. Toasts were given by the best man and maid of honor. Reception centerpieces were made by mother of the bride.  The three-tier wedding cake, decorated with artwork inspired by the bride’s dress and couple’s monogram, was made by Lorenzo’s Bakery in Frostburg. The groom’s cake was provided by Martin’s Bakery and decorated by the mother of the bride, Joyce Lashley, aunt of the bride, and April Vance, cousin of the bride. Photography was by George Knotts of G&G Photography, Cumberland.  Peach and strawberry jam guest favors were made by the mother of the bride.  Bows and tags were placed on the jam jars by the mother of the bride, Mary Anne Simpson, aunt of the bride, Kaitlyn Simpson, cousin of the bride, and Cathy Moreland, a friend of the family.

The bride’s and groom’s first dance was to “Only You Can Love Me This Way.” A father and daughter dance was to “When You Need Me.”   Reception music was provided by Mark Stevens, DJ.

A rehearsal dinner was held at Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant in Frostburg. The dinner took place the evening before the ceremony and was hosted by the groom’s parents.

Stephanie is a 2007 graduate of Beall High School and a 2011 graduate of Frostburg State University, with a bachelor of science degree in environmental analysis and planning.  She is currently attending graduate school at Wesley College in Dover, Del., and is employed with Kent Soil and Water Conservation District in Chestertown.

Matthew is a 2007 graduate of Kent County High School and a 2011 graduate of Frostburg State University, with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. He is currently employed by his family’s business, Lester C. Jones & Sons, Massey.

Stephanie and Matthew honeymooned at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian in St. Lucia and currently live in Millington with their dog, Emma, and two cats, Diesel and Tucker.

The bride and groom would like to thank their families and friends for all their support in making the special day so memorable.
