Ashley Shaw becomes wife of William Conrad

FARMINGTON, Pa. — Once in a while, in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale…

On July 21, 2012, a little girl’s dream became a reality as she walked the aisle of the plaza deck amidst the majestic Pennsylvania mountains at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort to meet her groom. Ashley Dawn Shaw and William Benjamin Conrad were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony officiated by Pastor Jerry Eisenhour, uncle of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of David and Debbie Shaw of Keyser, W.Va. Ashley is the granddaughter of Naoma Eisenhour and the late Ervin Eisenhour, and Dorothy Shaw and the late Wayne Shaw, all of Keyser.

The groom is the son of Bill and Nancy Conrad of Roanoke, W.Va. William is the grandson of Opal Armstrong and the late Foster Hanna of Fenwick, W.Va., and JoAnna Conrad and the late Pete Conrad of Cowen, W.Va.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted down the aisle by her father to the song “God Bless the Broken Road,” which described the journey the couple took to find each other.

The bride wore an Impression bridal gown. The ivory, one-shoulder gown was made of delicate lace, satin and tulle that featured a modified sweetheart neckline along with a flower and feather strap. The fitted bodice was adorned with beading and lace appliqués and accented at the waist with a decorative flower. The full A-line silhouette was accented with lace throughout as well as on the scalloped hemline of a chapel-length train. The bride’s headpiece was made of Swarovski crystals and rhinestones. The two-tier veil was accented with Swarovski crystals as well. The bride carried a bouquet of ivory hydrangeas, pale pink roses, and stargazer lily accents with ivory satin wrapped stems.

The bride was honored to have the following friends stand with her. Serving as matron of honor was Cortney Riden, long-time best friend, Keyser. Serving as bridesmaids were Jennifer Worley, long-time friend, South Carolina; Crystal Mayles-Heise, college friend, Pennsylvania; Peyton Morhous Cline, college friend, West Virginia; Kristina Clyburn, college friend, Washington; and Stephanie Adams, college friend, North Carolina. The bridesmaids wore long pink, one-shoulder gowns by Jordan. They carried pale pink roses and ivory hydrangeas with stems wrapped in pink satin ribbon. The flower girl was McClairen Eisenhour, cousin of the bride. The flower girl wore an ivory dress with scattered pink petals at the hemline and on the sweep train.

The groom was honored to have the following family and friends stand with him. Serving as the groom’s best man was his father, Bill Conrad. Serving as groomsmen were Kurt Kessler, long-time friend, Washington, D.C.; and Rick Montgomery, brother-in-law of the groom, Braden Montgomery, nephew of the groom, Anthony Montgomery, nephew of the groom, and Brandon Shaw, brother of the bride, all of West Virginia. The ring bearer was Evin Eisenhour, cousin of the bride. The groom wore a grey, single breasted tuxedo with satin trim designed by Jean Yves. The groomsmen and ring bearer also wore grey tuxedos by the same designer.

The Innocenti String Quartet from Pittsburgh welcomed guests and played selections throughout the outdoor ceremony.

The guest book was attended by Cassie Lynch, friend of the bride and groom. Paula Eisenhour, aunt of the bride, sang “I Could Not Ask for More.” Misty Montgomery, sister of the groom, read “The Hands Ceremony” before the exchange of rings. The string quartet played “You Raise Me Up” during the unity cross ceremony. The bride and groom then presented the mothers and grandmothers with pale pink roses. There were four empty seats with pictures of the bride’s and groom’s grandfathers placed in front. The couple placed ivory roses on each seat in loving memory of their grandfathers.

A variety of hors d’oeuvres was served on the grand ballroom patio following the ceremony. The guests were then led to the grand ballroom for an elegant meal prepared by Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. Tables at the reception were covered in white shimmer crush linens with pink crystal clover overlays. Centerpieces of tall candelabras with crystal ball centers and floating candles surrounding each base provided elegance to the romantic atmosphere. The three-tier round wedding cake was prepared and beautifully designed by one of Nemacolin’s talented pastry chefs. The cake was adorned with ivory ribbon, crystals and brooches to match the couple’s wedding invitations.

The bride and groom entered the ballroom and danced their first dance together as man and wife to “God Gave Me You” by Blake Shelton. Music at the reception was provided by Carson Yoder and Chris Bagley of C2C Music. A special toast was given by the matron of honor, Cortney Riden, and best man, Bill Conrad. Pastor Jerry Eisenhour performed the blessing over the bride and groom.

After the reception, the couple spent their first night together in the honeymoon suite at Nemacolin. The newlyweds then departed to the islands of Maui and Oahu, Hawaii, for their honeymoon. The couple now reside in Keyser.

Ashley is currently a clinical pharmacist with anticoagulation services at Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland.

William is an optometrist and currently has his own practice in Keyser.

The bride and groom would like to thank Andy Sams Photography from Austin, Texas, and Precious Moments Videography from Pittsburgh for capturing their special day. The couple would like to thank their family and friends for their love, support, and presence at the beginning of their journey together to “Happily Ever After.”
