Bonser-Mathews vows exchanged at Hayloft

ROCKWOOD, Pa. — Robert Jeffrey Bonser and Rebecca Kathleen Mathews were united in marriage Sept. 3, 2012 in an outdoor ceremony at the Hayloft in Rockwood. The groom’s father, Pastor Robert Bonser, presided over the double ring ceremony and delivered a message from Genesis 2:15-25 entitled “A Bond of Grace.”

Becky is the daughter of Tom and Carolyn Mathews of Cumberland, Md., and the granddaughter of the late Charles and Laverne Mathews of Cumberland and the late Gilbert and Margaret Bailey of Ligonier.

Bobby is the son of Bob and Suzanne Bonser of Oakland, Md., and the grandson of Mrs. Diane Baer and the late Robert Baer of Apollo and Robert Bonser and the late Johanna Bonser, of Livonia, Mich.

The bride was escorted across the lawn to the lakeside ceremony by her father. She wore a strapless fit and flare Mori Lee gown by designer Madeline Gardner with horizontal scallops of lace and crystals. The train was edged in a two-tier chiffon ruffle. Instead of a veil Becky wore a rhinestone encrusted headband and a feather flower fastened behind her ear. She carried a handmade bouquet of yellow, orange and white crepe paper peonies.

Melanie Mills, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura Bonser and Karen Bonser, sisters of the groom, and Kirsten Logsdon, Abbey Green and Britni Tarr, friends of the bride. The bridesmaids wore seafoam green knee-length chiffon dresses and carried yellow and orange crepe paper flower bouquets. All of the crepe paper flowers and bouquets were created and arranged by the bride.

The groom wore a three-piece gray suit with a gold tie and a crepe paper flower and feather accented boutonniere of the bride’s creation. Groomsmen were Brian Mathews and David Mills, brother and brother-in-law of the bride, and Patrick Buckley, Ian Hoch, Andrew Heineman and Ben Erzkus, friends of the groom. The groomsmen wore white shirts, gray vests and pants, gold ties and handmade boutonnieres.

A reception was held immediately following the ceremony in the rustic barn on the property. Bobby and Becky arrived at the barn in a white horse-drawn open carriage. Instead of traditional wedding cake, the couple cut into an apple pie baked by the bride using her grandmother’s family recipe. Guests enjoyed a buffet meal catered by the Chuck Wagon from Somerset. Homemade pies of a variety of flavors were the dessert.

The couple danced their first dance to “Oh Love,” a duet by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. The bride then took the floor with her dad for a swing dance to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra. The groom and his mother danced to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts. Photography for the day was provided by Rodney Stanton of Albright, W.Va., and Laurel Baker of Oakland.

The couple spent a week long honeymoon in Disney World, Orlando, Fla., in lodging which was a gift from the groom’s loving aunt.

Becky and Bobby are both employed by Erskine College and currently reside in Due West, S.C.

The couple thank their families and friends for sharing and celebrating this special day with them.
