Kahl, ACM overcome Potomac State

KEYSER - Potomac State got out to an 8-0 lead over Allegany College Thursday evening, but the Trojans proved too much for the Catamounts to contain in an 87-61 ACM win in Keyser.

Kacey Kahl, a Beall graduate who played at Potomac State last season, had 19 points, nine rebounds and three steals for the Trojans. Jasmine Blanks was the team's leading scorer with 23 points, and she added seven assists. Melissa Ford finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, four steals and four assists, and Jennifer Willis had eight each in points and boards.

After falling behind 8-0, ACM rebounded to take a 44-32 lead into the second half.

ACM coach Jerry Rice was proud of how his team persevered. "The girls held their composure and fought back to get the win. The transition game was good and rebounding was solid. It was a good team win."

Potomac State's Amanda McKim posted a game-high 29 points, and also had five rebounds. Denise Johnson scored 11 points, and Ashley Heavener finished with 10.

After playing five of its last six games on the road, the Trojans (14-1) will host Frederick at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Potomac State (12-6) hosts CCAC-Boyce on Saturday.
