Catholic defeats FSU women

WASHINGTON - Jessica Schiavoni scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Catholic to a 63-40 victory over Frostburg State in college women's basketball on Wednesday.

Brianna Peterson chipped in with 14 points and Lauren McPeak had eight points and 14 rebounds for the Cardinals (6-9).

Frostburg State (5-11) was lead by freshman Elizabeth Carrington with 14 points and three rebounds. Jamie Morningstar added nine points.

The Bobcats were unable to score in the first four minutes and never recovered. Catholic led 13-3 after five minutes, and led 29-19 at halftime. The lead ballooned to as many as 27 points in the second half.

The Bobcats play again Saturday, at home, in a 1 p.m. conference game with Penn State Behrend.
