Frederick edges Potomac State, 68-66

From Staff Reports
Cumberland Times-News

FREDERICK - Potomac State watched a 14-point lead in the second half melt down in a loss to Frederick Community College Monday afternoon in Frederick.

The Catamounts had a chance to tie the score with 2.9 seconds left. Potomac fouled the Cougars, and after making one of the free throws Frederick held a two-point lead. PSC got a shot off before the buzzer, but could not convert.

Amanda McKim scored 20 points, and added six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Two former Hampshire standouts scored in double digits for the Cats with Ashley Heavener scoring 16 and Julieanne Buckley finishing with 11. Denise Johnson had seven points and five assists.

Potomac led 28-22 at halftime, and continued to increase on its lead until the margin grew to 14 points. Denise Miller's 18 points for the Cougars help get Frederick the lead back. Katherine Mills finished with 14 points.

Potomac State is 8-0 so far this season in the Western Pennsylvania Conference, but is 5-7 out of it with the most recent loss. The Cats will host CCAC Allegheny on Wednesday at 5 o'clock.
