Potomac State beats Butler, finishes WPCC play undefeated

Potomac State beats Butler 73-59

KEYSER, W.Va. — Julieanne Buckley scored 14 points and finished with eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals as Potomac State wrapped up an undefeated season in the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference by beating Butler Saturday in Keyser.

The Catamounts got off to an early 16-point lead, but saw that shrink to two points (30-28) by halftime. The Pioneers used the three-point shot to help keep the score close. Lea Roth and Ashley Nocera each hit four, with Roth scoring 20 points.

Potomac started strong in the second half and built its lead to as much as 18 points before settling at 14.

Amanda McKim had a team high 21 points for the Cats, and also added five rebounds and four steals. Denise Johnson scored 10 points, and Madi Crosby scored 13. Ashley Heavener contributed with nine points.

Potomac State (15-7) has earned the No. 1 seed in next weekend’s WPPC Tournament by completing the regular season with a 10-0 mark. The Catamounts will host a semifinal game on Saturday, with the team and time yet to be determined.
