LaPorta leads Frostburg State’s 65-50 win

FROSTBURG — Amanda LaPorta had team highs with 19 points and eight rebounds to power Frostburg State past Pitt-Bradford 65-60 in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game at Bobcat Arena.

Elizabeth Carrington had 11 points, five rebounds and four steals while Sidra Bing added 10 points for the Bobcats (6-15 overall, 3-11 AMCC).

Katie Moore scored 14 points, Amanda Williams had 13 and Janelle Krisulevicz had a game-high 10 rebounds for Pitt-Bradford (4-17, 2-12).

Frostburg State moved an early 9-3 lead to 17-7 after a layup by Danielle Langdon midway through the first half. The lead grew to 31-12 after a Bing jumper with 4:15 left in the half. The Bobcats enjoyed a 36-22 advantage at the break.

Four minutes into the second half, a LaPorta steal and layup moved the FSU lead to a game-high 20 points. But the Panthers chipped away at the lead and, with 34 seconds remaining, had it down to just three points at 63-60 after a jumper by Williams.

Frostburg’s Shanell Williams helped seal the Bobcat victory with a free throw in the final seconds.

The Bobcats will host Penn State Altoona on Wednesday at 6 o’clock.
