AC women extend win streak to 19

From Staff Reports
Cumberland Times-News

FREDERICK — Melissa Ford and Jasmine Blanks both reached the 20-point plateau Friday evening as the Allegany College continued to roll by posting its 19th consecutive victory, 87-61 over Frederick.

Ford led all scorers with 27 points, while Blanks topped out at 20. Ford added eight rebounds, and Blanks five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Kacey Kahl contributed eight points, eight rebounds and three steals. Lindsey Holliday was the third Trojan scoring in double figures with 13 points.

“I was pleased with the way we came out tonight after the game with Potomac State,” said Jerry Rice, referring to ACM’s 89-62 win on Thursday. “We didn’t get off to a good start offensively, but we did a good job of containing them.”

Allegany’s slow offensive start led to a 38-26 lead at the half, but the Trojans turned it up a gear to distance themselves in the second half.

Denise Campbell scored 21 points in the loss, and Christine Mills finished with 14 points for Frederick.

Allegany, the 14th ranked team in the country, goes to 23-1 overall and will host Dundalk at home today at 4:45 in its final regular season game, and third game in as many nights.

“I set the schedule up to have a few spots like this where we were going to have to play a few days in a row,” added Rice. “Of course the weather becomes a factor, but with two tournaments coming up that might require us to play back-to-back days.”

“Besides, at this point the girls would rather play than practice.”
