Pitt-Greensburg stops FSU, 77-55

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Mercedes White and Brittany James combined for 32 points and 17 rebounds, but it wasn't enough for Frostburg State as the Lady Bobcats fell to Pitt-Greensburg 77-55 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener for both on Wednesday night.

Amanda Sheaffer hit 12 of 19 shots from the field and had a game-high 27 points in leading three scorers in double figures for Pitt-Greensburg (4-1 overall).

White had 16 points, nine rebounds and three steals, while James had 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals for Frostburg State (3-3). Shanell Williams had six points and a team-leading 10 rebounds.

Tiffany Menhorn had 20 points and four assists, and Kelsey Wilcox 19 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for Pitt-Greensburg, which led 40-29 at the half. The closest FSU was unable to get any closer than nine points throughout the second half.

Frostburg outrebounded Pitt-Greensburg 50-38. But the Bobcats shot only 32 percent from the field and had 30 turnovers.

The Bobcats play at Penn State Behrend on Saturday for a 2 p.m. conference game.
