La Roche beats Frostburg State 63-59

FROSTBURG — Jaquaylia Kessler scored 17 points, Ashley Heakins had 15 and Marlis Graves grabbed 10 rebounds and had six points and four steals to lift La Roche over Frostburg State in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game.

Kessler had 10 of her points in the first half as La Roche (6-1 overall, 2-0 AMCC) built a 35-25 halftime lead. Kessler’s 17 points and six rebounds came in just 12 minutes of playing time. Heakins, 9-for-11 from the foul line, finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Freshman Elizabeth Carrington led a comeback for Frostburg State (3-5, 0-3) in the second half and hit two foul shots with 6:50 left to bring the Bobcats to within 51-47, but the Bobcats would get no closer.

Carrington had a career-high 14 points to lead the Bobcats. Brittany James added 10 points and three steals and Mercedes White scored 11 points
