Cuyahoga beats Potomac State 59-57

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Potomac State College built a 15-point lead in the first half, but was unable to hold on as the Catamounts lost to host Cuyahoga in the championship game of the Cuyahoga College Invitational on Saturday.

With the score tied at 57 with eight seconds left, Regina Nicholson got loose for a break-away layup with four clicks on the clock. Potomac State was unable to get off a shot before the buzzer.

Nicholson finished with 18 points to lead Cuyahoga. Angelina Jacobs added 14 and Telitha Davis had 11.

Potomac State was led by Julieanne Buckley with 15 points and eight rebounds. Denise Johnson added 14 points and Amanda McKim had 13 points and four steals. Jasmine Mosley hauled down 10 rebounds.

Cuyahoga took a 14-2 lead before Potomac State turned it around to go up by 15 points in the first half. The Catamounts led 33-21 at halftime.

Potomac State (5-4) will host the College of Southern Maryland on Thursday at 6 p.m.
