River Hill wins Fort Hill Super Duals

CUMBERLAND - Area schools had at least one wrestler picked in each weight class from 145 and above, but a weak showing in the lighter weights led to Fort Hill, Frankfort and Allegany pulling up the rear Saturday in the Fort Hill Super Duals.

River Hill won the tournament with an 8-0 record. Fort Hill was the highest placing local team with a fifth-place finish after going 4-4. Frankfort finished 2-5 to place sixth, and Allegany was seventh with a 1-7 performance.

Jake Merritt went 8-0 in the 160-pound division, and Richard Lowery finished 7-1 in the 285-pound division to pick up the Sentinels two individual titles. Frankfort's Ben Snoberger was also perfect in eight matches to win Frankfort's only title.

Jacob Appel (145) and Glen Vincent (189) each finished second for Fort Hill. Alec Peer (125), Bobby Weimer (145) and Dallin Rust (171) all placed third for Frankfort.

The only wrestler for Allegany to place was Jake Twigg, who was second in the 215-pound class.
