Southern pins Northern, 54-16

OAKLAND - Unbeaten Southern won 11 of the 14 matches and had nine pins in a 54-16 high school wrestling victory over arch-rival Northern on Tuesday at Southern.

The Rams are now 9-0 in dual matches and are ranked No. 2 in the state by the Maryland State Wrestling Association poll.

Southern's Lex Ozias lifted his record to 24-0 in the 112-pound class with a pin over Andrew Reynolds. Also scoring pins for the Rams were Matt Armstrong (103), George Scheffel (125), Lee Custer (130), Jordan Skipper (145), Nick Farmer (171) and Sean Sisler (285).

Winning decisions for the Rams were Josh Arnold (119). Jacob Scheffel (134) and Nicholas Brant (140)

Northern's Andrew Ganoe (152) and Dustin Stough (160) both remained unbeaten with wins. Alex Ruff scored the Huskies' other win with a pin in the 215-pound class.

Southern will host South Carroll on Friday at 6 p.m. Northern will host Meyersdale in a make-up match tonight.
