Mountain Ridge beats Fort Hill 63-3

FROSTBURG — Mountain Ridge was one weight class away from sweeping Fort Hill Thursday night in a meeting of Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference opponents in Frostburg.
Tom Patterson won the 103-pound division by pinning his opponent in 4:40. The Miners would finish with six wins coming from pins, the fastest by Justin Blubaugh (1:16) in the 171-pound class. Aaron Patterson (135), Stephen Whetstone (140), Justin Blubaugh (171), Nathan Payne (189) and Noah DeVore (215) also collected pins.
Cody Clise won a 15-0 technical fall in the 125 division, while Glenn Johnson (112), Ryan Clark (119) and Eric Burke (130) picked up decisions. Adam Kolberg (145), Josh Guy (152) and Derrick Sisk (285) also won decisions.
Fort Hill’s only win came courtesy of Jake Merritt’s 3-2 decision.
The Miners will wrestle at Winters Mill on Saturday, Feb. 9. Fort Hill also grapples Feb. 9, with Hagerstown at Francis Scott Key.
