Southern stays undefeated

Rams finish regular season 14-0; host regional duals Feb. 13

OAKLAND - The Southern Rams put the finishing touches on a perfect regular season on Saturday by routing Allegany 78-6 and Winters Mill 56-18.

Coach Dave Green's Rams ended the regular year with a 14-0 record and will be the top seed and host of the West Region Duals on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Matches will begin that evening at 5:30.

Lex Ozias won both of his matches with pins on Saturday to improve his personal mark to 28-0.

In the win over Winters Mill, Ozias (112-pound class) made short work of Kelly Simkins, getting the pin in just 16 seconds.

Other Rams winning with pins were Jakob Scheffel (130), Kody Lewis (160), Nick Farmer (171), Ryan Bennett (189) and Sean Sisler (285).

George Scheffel (125) won by technical fall to move his personal record to 27-1. Josh Arnold (119), Nicholas Brant (135) and Jordan Skipper (145) won decisions, and Matt Armstrong by forfeit.

In the win over Allegany, Southern won 13 of the 14 matches, with 11 coming on pins.

Armstrong, Ozias, Arnold, George and Jakob Scheffel, Lee Custer (135), Brant, Lewis, Farmer, Bennett and Sisler won with pins. Skipper and Davey Sweitzer (152) won forfeits.

Allegany's win came from Jake Twigg, who won the 215 division with a pin.
