Petersburg's Rohrbaugh, Frankfort's Snoberger finish fourth at state

HUNTINGTON - Petersburg's Jamie Rohrbaugh and Frankfort's Ben Snoberger led area wrestlers with fourth-place finishes in the Class AA-A state tournament that concluded Saturday in the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.
Rohrbaugh was involved in a pair of one-point decisions in his consolation matches.
First, Rohrbaugh, wrestling in the 285-pound division, decisioned Doug Murray of Oak Glen by a 1-0 score in the semifinals. In the third-place match, Rohrbaugh was nipped by Jake Stotler of Berkeley Springs, 4-3 in overtime.
Rohrbaugh had reached the consolation semifinals by edging Jon Schultz of Point Pleasant 5-2, and pinning Mike Cotterall of Logan in 4:59 and Jesse Sigman of Winfield in 2:15 on Friday.
Snoberger, in the 152 division, decisioned Jeff Goodrich of Calhoun County 4-2 in the consolation semifinals, then dropped an 8-1 match to Jake Justice for third place.
On Friday, Snoberger had beaten Tanner Whyte 6-3 in the championship bracket before losing to Derrick Williams of Hoover 9-3.
Keyser's Blake Mangold finished fifth in the 145 class and Petersburg's Zach Oates was sixth in the 135 division.
Mangold defeated Clay's Jordan Adkins by default in the 145 fifth-place match. Earlier in the day, Mangold lost to Oak Glen's Nick McAvoy, 11-4, in the consolation semifinals.
Mangold had pinned Aaron Yoak of Calhoun County in 4:29 and edged Tre Pyles of Point Pleasant 2-1 on Friday.
Oates reached the consolation semifinals in the 135 class by pinning Fayetteville's Chuck Williams in 4:00 and Cody Davidson of Weirton in 1:43, and rolling up a 16-7 decision over Matt McCormick of Point Pleasant on Friday.
On Saturday, he lost to Anthony Crist of Braxton in 42 seconds in the consolation semifinals, then fell to Joel Paolo of Oak Glen in a 15-0 technical fall in the fifth-place mach.
Oak Glen won its 12th straight state title with 189 1/2 points and a sizable 60 1/2-point cushion over runnerup Point Pleasant. Petersburg was 13th with 50 points, Keyser 17th with 32 and Frankfort 26th with 22 in the 40-team field.
Other area wrestlers who competed in the state tournament by qualifying in last week's regional:
Keyser
* Colby Kiggins (103) lost an 18-0 technical fall to Josh Fisher of Roane County. In the consolation bracket, he decisioned Cody Kelley of Williamstown 6-4 but lost a 2-0 tussle to Jon Crane of Greenbrier West in the third round.
* Alan Frush (112) lost to Oak Glen's David Mahan by pin in 3:59 in the championship bracket. In the consolation bracket, he pinned Cody Wills of Shady Spring in just 25 seconds, but lost a 9-0 decision in the third round to Cody Everett of St. Marys.
* Tommy Stark (130) lost to Ethan Gray of Oak Glen on a pin in 4:47 to drop into the consolation bracket, where he lost a tough 7-6 decision to Jordan Seabolt of Ravenswood.
* Brandon Swick (160) lost to Caden Arnold of Calhoun County by pin in 57 seconds in the first round of the consolation bracket.
* Jordan Mellott (189) dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Zac Montero of Oak Glen in the championship bracket. In the consolation bracket, Mellott he decisioned David Mullens of Oak Hill 5-3 and lost to Aaron Wood of Grafton 8-7.
Frankfort
* Ryan Clark (112) lost a 5-3 decision in overtime to Andrew Sellers of Ritchie in the consolation bracket.
* Alec Peer (125) lost a 9-5 decision to Justin Cline of Wirt County in the championship round. In the consolation matches, he scored a 13-0 major decision over Julian Yost of Tyler before losing to Randy Ferrill of Greenbrier West, 6-3.
* Dallin Rust (171) scored a 13-3 major decision over Anthony Cornell, but lost an 8-2 decision to Larry Dean of Oak Hill in a second round consolation match.
Petersburg
* Ty Van Meter (112) lost by pin in 2:03 to Cody Everett of St. Marys in a consolation match.
* Dustin Kimble (119) pinned Zach Ransom in 4:48 before losing to Troy Eckleberry 5-3 in the consolation second round.
* Russell Coakley (145) lost to Aaron Hinzman of Ritchie in 3:58.
* Wes Barr (152) decisioned Charlie Scott of Liberty Raleigh 7-2, then lost to Jeff Goodrich of Calhoun County by pin in 1:48.
* Matt Porter (171) pinned Rob Pennington of Ritchie in 43 seconds in the championship quarterfinals, but lost to Derek Mitchell of Point Pleasant by a 16-0 technical fall in the semifinals.
* Derek Alt (189) lost to David Mullens of Oak Hill 8-1 in the first round of consolation.
* Kris Wariner (215) was pinned by Patrick Nary of Hoover, in 1:29 of their championship quarterfinal. In the consolation bracket, Wariner dropped a 4-0 match to Michael Boyce of Grafton.
