Mountain Ridge opens with pair

WILLIAMSPORT - Mountain Ridge got two wins in a Wednesday-evening tri-match, scoring 42 points in a win over Francis Scott Key and another 42 in a victory over Williamsport.

The Miners defeated FSK 42-21 to start the day, winning all but one match from the 135-pound class up.

Ryan Clark captured the 112-pound match with a 7-0 decision, but Francis Scott Key won four of the five lowest weight classes.

Stephen Whetstone (145) won in 45 seconds as one of five Miners that won by pinfall. Josh Guy (152), Justin Blubaugh (171), Nathan Payne (189) and Noah DeVore (215) also won by pin.

Garret Lewis (135), Aaron Patterson (140) and Derrick Sites (285) won decisions.

Mountain Ridge won six of its seven victories by way of pin in a 42-28 win over Williamsport.

Tom Patterson won the 103 division in 1:59, while Clark (119), Whetstone (145), Guy (152) and Blubaugh (171) all won by pinning their opponents. DeVore won the 215 class by disqualification.

Francis Scott Key defeated Williamsport 42-36.

Mountain Ridge will host the annual Thomas R. Davis Memorial Tournament today and Saturday. Wrestling will begin at 5 p.m. today, and start at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
