CUMBERLAND - A Cumberland man remained jailed Tuesday on $500,000 bond after he was charged with second-degree assault stemming from an alleged domestic incident.

The C3I Unit said 48-year-old Robert Matthew Breeding was arrested Monday when police served him with an arrest warrant.

Breeding was jailed on $500,000 in the Allegany County Detention Center following bail review in district court.

A C3I spokesman said Cumberland Police re-sponded to a Louisiana Avenue residence at about 10 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a request to check on the well-being of the female victim.

Police found the victim at another location. When interviewed, the victim told police Breeding had assaulted her by grabbing her and wrestling her to the ground. The victim kicked Breeding in the chest to enable her to get away and seek refuge at a neighbor's residence.

Officers noticed injuries to the victim consistent with the allegation before police applied for the warrant leading to Breeding's arrest.
