MCHENRY — The 25th annual Country Fest and Auction will be held at the Garrett County Fairgrounds Aug. 24 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

The auction will begin at 9:30 a.m. and feature home décor, craft items, in-home dinners, collectibles and a variety of other items. Antiques will be sold at 11 a.m.

Organizers said the most popular items will be more than a dozen quilts and wall hangings that will be on display until 1 p.m. and auctioned at 1:30 p.m.

Other activities will be held throughout the day. Demonstrations of forging, horse shoeing, apple cider pressing, chair caning and soap making will happen periodically.

The children’s pedal tractor pull will be at 11 a.m. and the aerial candy drop at 1 p.m.

There will be food booths with doughnuts, soft pretzels, various baked goods, ice cream, chicken barbecue and other items.

Proceeds benefit the education of children of Pillar of Life and Bittinger Mennonite churches.
