ELLERSLIE — Ellerslie United Methodist Women reported 18 sick calls made in September when eight members met recently.
Janet Phillips was in charge of the pledge service and thanked members for their donations. She listed the charitable organizations that were recipients.
Thank you notes were received from Jane’s Place, Salvation Army and Family Crisis Resource Center.
Canned goods are being collected for the Mount Savage United Methodist Church food pantry.
Leona Baker thanked those who helped with the annual appreciation dinner for the volunteer fire company and rescue squad and Keith Johnson presented monetary gifts to them. It was noted that six walkers participated in the CROP Walk with $480 given by sponsors.
Shop-A-Palooza, with over 20 vendors, is scheduled for Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall with proceeds to benefit CASA. Luncheon items will be available. Cheer trays will be assembled with cookies, candy and fruit at 9 a.m. on Nov. 26. The Thanksgiving Eve service will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Corriganville at 7 p.m.
The community tree lighting will take place Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. near the gazebo. Christmas dinner is scheduled for Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. with Judy Schroyer catering. Donations for the Finan Center will be collected.
Janise Bernier shared a message from Helen McCahill, deaconess-home missioner in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. The next meeting will be Nov. 18.
